(SYD) 2026 Reuse & Repair Day - Bayside Council

  • Eastlakes Community Hall 2 Florence Avenue Eastlakes NSW 2018 Australia (map)

Celebrate Secondhand September at Bayside Council's FREE Reuse & Repair Day, a community event designed to help residents extend the life of everyday items through swapping, repairing and reusing.

Bring along clothing, toys and small household items to swap, repair or refresh. The day includes hands-on activities such as clothing mending and repair support, plus professional repair services for small appliances, furniture and garden tools.

You'll also have the opportunity to learn simple repair skills that can help reduce waste and keep useful items out of landfill.

Please Register for the Clothes Swap

Timing: Check-in: 10am to 11am.

Swap: 11am - 12pm

How it Works:

Bring up to six items of clothing you value but no longer wear and exchange for those you’ll love to wear!

When you check your clothes in you will receive buttons to use as currency once the swap opens. You can then take one item for each button you receive.

Please note, our organisers will need the room for about one hour to sort the clothes, so feel free to check out the other activities, or have a wander of the area and grab a coffee.

What You Can Bring:

Bring up to six items of clothing in excellent condition for any size, gender and age. Excellent condition means the clothing is clean, pressed and free from rips, holes, stains or major faults. Only bring items you would proudly give to a friend. Items could include:

  • Tops, shirts, blouses and jackets

  • Pants, jeans and shorts

  • Skirts, dresses and suits

  • Belts, bags and shoes

  • Scarves, ties and hats

What You Can't Bring:

Items are checked before being put out for the clothes swap. If your items are unsuitable, you may be asked to take them home. Unsuitable items include:

  • Jewellery and wigs

  • Underwear, socks and swimwear

  • Sportswear and activewear

  • Anything stained, torn or unclean

  • Noticeably worn out, shabby, pilling or frayed items

Note: We do not accept anything pilled, smelly, marked or too far from perfect. We do not exchange undergarments, swimwear, tracksuits or cheap fast fashion.

All styles are accepted, provided they're in excellent condition – so keep in mind that items will range from on-trend pieces to older classics. And although we love receiving them, we can't guarantee everyone who brings a designer item will take home an equivalent piece.
