With the excitement of Australian Fashion Week (14–16 May 2025) just around the corner, you might be feeling inspired to refresh your wardrobe. But before you hit the shops or start scrolling through your favourite online retailers, why not try a more sustainable and budget-friendly option?
Clothes swaps are a fun and eco-friendly way to give your wardrobe a makeover, save money, and keep good-quality items out of landfill. And this time, we're also including toys, books and games, so your little ones can get in on the action too.
Swapping toys is a great way to keep playtime fresh without the cost or clutter. It also helps teach kids the value of sharing and sustainability from a young age.
Bring along your pre-loved clothes and toys in good condition and leave with something new to you — all while doing something good for the planet.
Where
Join us at the Eastlakes Community Hall, 2 Florence Ave, Eastlakes NSW, for a swap session.
Timing:
Toy Swap: 10am to 12noon
Clothes Swap: Check-in: 12noon to 1pm Swap: 1pm to 2pm
How it Works: Clothes Swap
Bring up to six items of clothing you value but no longer wear and exchange for those you’ll love to wear!
When you check your clothes in you will receive buttons to use as currency once the swap opens. You can then take one item for each button you receive.
Please note, our organisers will need the room for about one hour to sort the clothes. Take advantage of this time to explore the local area, socialise with fellow fashion enthusiasts, or grab a coffee.
What You Can Bring:
Bring up to six items of clothing in excellent condition for any size, gender and age. Excellent condition means the clothing is clean, pressed and free from rips, holes, stains or major faults. Only bring items you would proudly give to a friend. Items could include:
Tops, shirts, blouses and jackets
Pants, jeans and shorts
Skirts, dresses and suits
Belts, bags and shoes
Scarves, ties and hats
Note: We do not accept anything pilled, smelly, marked or too far from perfect. We do not exchange undergarments, swimwear, tracksuits or cheap fast fashion.
All styles are accepted, provided they're in excellent condition – so keep in mind that items will range from on-trend pieces to older classics. And although we love receiving them, we can't guarantee everyone who brings a designer item will take home an equivalent piece.
What You Can't Bring:
Items are checked before being put out for the clothes swap. If your items are unsuitable, you may be asked to take them home. Unsuitable items include:
Jewellery and wigs
Underwear, socks and swimwear
Sportswear and activewear
Anything stained, torn or unclean
Noticeably worn out, shabby, pilling or frayed items
How it Works: Toy Swap
What You Can Bring:
You may bring toys, games and books that are in good working condition and suitable for reuse. You can bring up to one bag of items plus one large item in total. Due to safety concerns, you must check that all battery-operated items (toys, games and books) are in working condition and replace their batteries if necessary.
Only bring items you would proudly give to another child or friend.
Items could include:
Toys
Games
Books
Note: Battery-operated toys should have battery cases secured by screws or other means to prevent children from prying them open. We may refuse any items that are not in the desired condition, and you must remove them from the premises.
