(SYD) Children's Toy, Clothes & Book Swap - Parramatta Town Hall

  • Parramatta Town Hall 182 Church Street Parramatta, NSW, 2150 Australia (map)

Children’s Toy, Clothes & Book Swap – A Fun Way to Share and Reuse! Get ready for a joyful community event where families come together to swap gently used children’s toys, clothes, and books! It’s a fantastic way to refresh your child’s collection while giving pre-loved items a second life.

Australia generates over 300,000 tonnes of textile waste each year, and toys and books often end up in landfill too. Swapping helps reduce waste, save money, and promote a culture of sharing and sustainability. Let’s teach kids the value of reusing, caring for our planet, and finding joy in something “new-to-you.” Join the swap and be part of the change!

The event runs from 10:30AM to 12:30PM. You can arrive at any time from 10:30AM and begin swapping straight away. We will provide a base selection of items at the start and continue to replenish tables as new items are brought in. Please note that no items will be accepted after 12PM.

We’ve planned some special activities for kids, so be sure to bring plenty of energy!

WHERE: PARRAMATTA TOWN HALL

WHEN: 18TH OF JULY STARTING AT 10:30AM

HOW THE SWAP WORKS

  • Arrive anytime between 10:30AM and 12:00PM and start swapping as soon as you arrive.

  • On arrival, please hand your items to volunteers. We will check you in and weigh your items to track the environmental impact of the swap. This is only to measure landfill diversion and does not affect how much you can take.

  • You can bring up to 10 good-quality(clothing, toys, or books) that you’d be happy to pass on. We also welcome maternity/postpartum clothing and cloth nappies.

  • You will receive 10 tokens to use as “currency” for swapping items. For example, if you bring 10 items, you can take 10 items in return. We aim to keep things flexible and fun, so if you find an extra item you love, that’s okay too.

  • If you don’t have anything to swap, you are still very welcome. We especially encourage expecting and new parents to take what they need.

  • Tables will be pre-stocked before doors open. Volunteers will continue to organise, restock, and reshuffle items throughout the event to keep everything easy to browse.

  • No new items will be accepted in the final 30 minutes. During this time, we will focus on redistributing remaining items.

  • Keep in mind that it is very challenging for us to assure quality, sizes and styles so please be kind.

Collaborated and presented by the Environment and Sustainability team and Parramatta Library.
