SLF Mums and Bubs Zero Waste Swap

  • 40rd 40 Advantage Road Highett, VIC, 3190 Australia (map)

A clothing swap event for Mums and their bubs who have outgrown everything they own!

Have a bunch of clothes you don’t wear anymore that are still in great condition? Have your kid’s outgrown everything they own? Swap them for something new! Come along to the Mums and Bubs Zero Waste Swap on Sunday 3 February 2019, presented by The Clothing Exchange as part of the National Sustainable Living Festival 2019.

Bring up to 6 quality adult items and/or 6 children’s items that are clean and undamaged. You will be given one token for each item that you bring (maximum 12) and you can walk away with up to 6 new-to-you items, from each section.

Our event aims to offer a solution for reducing the impact fashion waste has on our planet in a fun and friendly environment. All parents and children of all ages are invited to attend!

Before the swapping kicks off, Erin Rhoads, aka The Rogue Ginger, one of Australia’s most popular eco-lifestyle commentators and zero-waste living experts will share her best zero waste mum tips and help you with taking small steps as a parent that will make a lasting impact on our planet. Erin released her book in 2018, Waste Not which talks about how small changes can make a big impact. Erin covers everything from simple things, like how you can reduce your waste, making chemical free cleaning products, how to make good purchasing decisions and for the more dedicated even how to have a zero-waste wedding. And of course, there’s a section on clothes as well!

Make sure to arrive with plenty of time to drop off your clothing and hear the wonderful Erin!

What happens on the day?

Check-in/clothing drop off from 11.00am – 11:50am

Hear from Erin Rhoads, aka The Rogue Ginger at 11:50am

Swapping starts at 12:00pm – 1:00pm

Please note: we will not accept items that are dirty, torn, stained or in poor condition. This event is for good quality items that are swapped for other items of the same quality. Please be respectful of your fellow swappers and only bring items that are clean, folded or pressed, of good quality with a long potential lifespan and are likely to be valued by others. The best items to swap are good quality garments that you once loved but are no longer your favourites or perhaps no longer fit you perfectly. This way, you’re giving them a second life with someone new who will treasure them.
